Christmas – Art Market

Applications are open!

Join us on Saturday 25 November 2023, between 09:30 – 15:30 for a festive, Christmas market selling an array of different arts and crafts!

Our market is being held inside @IncFelixstowe (next door to Savers) in the centre of the town, 87 Hamilton Road. We will have over 20 stalls selling their own handmade creations to the public in time for Christmas!

What’s Next for Art Market?…

Dear artists,

Following on from the previous update regarding the change of name from Art at the Beach, to Art Market, and why we made the change. The next logical step is to confirm when the next event will be taking place. 

We had booked the date of Saturday 2 September 2023 for our next event, however, as previously mentioned with the name change, it was to avoid any confusion with Art on the Prom. As of yesterday, it was announced that Art on the Prom is returning this year on Sunday 3 September 2023. With that in mind we have decided to hold our next event in early 2024.

We fully support Art on the Prom and are thrilled to hear it is coming back! So, if you still wish to exhibit your artwork in Felixstowe this September at a different location under a different organisation, we recommend you apply for Art on the Prom 2023!

Saturday 3 June and Renaming our Event

In late 2022 we established an art festival called Art at the Beach for local artists to showcase and sell their work at Beach Street Felixstowe. Founded with the aim to strengthen our local art community and to make art accessible to everyone. 

Our art festival (Art at the Beach) was also created due to many of us missing the well known event, Art on the Prom and as a nod to our inspiration, we titled our event Art at the Beach. However, with whispers through the local art scene that Art on the Prom is set to return very soon, we have decided to rename our festival as the ‘art market’ as to not cause any confusion between the two. Both events are so important to the local art scene and our local economy. We are very excited to hear that Art on the Prom is returning to the town and we fully support Art on the Prom in their endeavours.

So going forward, please be aware of the new name and keep an eye out for future events!

But here’s a little teaser for you of some pictures from our event on Saturday. We were lucky to hire photographer Alexander Ward for the day to take some snaps of stallholders and visitors. Watch this space to see more in the next few weeks!

A huge thank you to all the exhibitors and visitors on the day. The sun was shinning (albeit a little cold with the wind!) the event was welcoming and the artworks and creations on display were stunning! It was a pleasure to see so much talent under one roof!

Kids Summer Art Club

Art Club for Kids – Every Friday this Summer!

Ages 7 – 12 years. 10am-11:30am. £15 per child. Price includes art class, half a waffle or crepe and a drink.

Join us at The Beehive Cafe inside Felixstowe Museum, to be creative around likeminded individuals. 

Bring your crafty projects and relax with us over a hot drink and a slice of cake!

Half Term Kids Art Club!

This Friday at The Waffle Shack, we have a special art class for kids!

In this class we will be painting a ceramic pot, in the shape of a snail! Followed by planting some cress seeds into the pot!

ART AT THE BEACH – POSTER FOR JUNE 2023!

HERE IT IS!!

We are thrilled to announce the winning poster of Art at the Beach on Saturday 3 June 2023, has been designed by local artist, Alison Adcock!!

We LOVE the colours in Alison’s artwork and feel it was a great fit to promote Art at the Beach for June 2023!

But let’s be honest… this was a tough competition!! All those who submitted a piece for the competition didn’t give us an easy job of choosing the winning poster! But we would like to thank everyone who got involved and submitted a design. East Anglia hosts a very talented bunch of creatives!

So, what’s next?… you can expect to start seeing this poster scattered around Suffolk and hopefully further afield. If anyone would like posters or can help distribute please get in touch and or leave a comment at the bottom of this post.

The Latest News for Art at the Beach 2023!

We love to promote local artists and what better way than to have the work of a local artist on our poster for Art at the Beach!?

It’s easy to apply… 

Download the template below to see exactly where your artwork will be placed (it will be cropped, so keep this in mind!). For example, see the picture below with the grey area? The grey area will be taken up with your artwork.

This is a competition and the final artwork will be chosen by the Creative Streak trio and announced on 5 February 2023. 

What’s in it for you?.. Well, in exchange for us having the right to use your submitted artwork on our posters for the event (this includes printing the artwork on our posters and flyers which will be shared in print and online), we will give the winner a free pitch at the event on Saturday 3 June 2023! Wahoo!

Top tips… Please do not feel you have to create a new artwork for this poster competition. Simply go through your portfolio and submit one to five artworks that you think would sit well with our branding for Art at the Beach.

T&Cs: By submitting an artwork to this competition you agree for us to print your winning artwork on our posters and share the artwork design via print and on our social media channels, website and other forms of advertising. There is no time limit on how many times we can reproduce, print or share this design for our marketing and merchandise purposes. 

We will be accepting entries until 28 January 2023.

Drag and Draw – Life Drawing

Life drawing for adults at La Vida. All skill levels welcome! 18+

Gift Vouchers are supplied as a red, 5″x7″ card, in a red envelope. Great for writing a personalised message inside!

Select from the following options:

* Kids Saturday Morning Art Club – These classes are held once a month on a Saturday morning at The Waffle Shack, Beach Street Felixstowe, IP11 2GN. £15 is for one child (7-13 years) to attend one class. Art materials, a waffle and a drink are included in the ticket price of £15.

* Adult Art Workshop/Class – Choose from; a workshop at The Waffle Shack, Beach Street Felixstowe, IP11 2GN, held once a month on a Wednesday evening, *OR* at The Little Wine Bar, Walton. £20 is the ticket price for one adult to attend one workshop/class, with art materials, a slice of waffle cake and a drink included at The Waffle Shack *OR* art materials and wine at The Little Wine Bar.

The recipient of the Gift Voucher is free to choose which upcoming workshop/class they would like to attend.
